Led by our experienced attorneys, Ty Smith and Kris Mullins, our team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the practice of personal injury law.
Ty Smith
Ty has dedicated his career to representing victims of medical negligence and other personal injury. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Indiana.
Ty founded Smith Mullins after leading Morgan & Morgan’s medical malpractice department for 7 years with Smith Mullins co-founder, Kris Mullins. He began his career in 2005 working at a prominent personal injury law firm.
Ty is proud to begin his own firm with an unwavering commitment to client service. He focuses his practice on personal injury cases, with a specific emphasis on medical negligence and healthcare litigation.
Outside of his busy law practice, Ty enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, and running the annual Derby Festival Mini-Marathon. A native Lexingtonian, Ty graduated from Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky Law School, earning Order of the Coif honors, reserved for the top 10% of the graduating class. Ty moved to Louisville in 2005 to begin his law career.
Kris Mullins
Kris is a lifelong Kentuckian. He was raised in Campbellsville and moved to Lexington in 1994 to attend the University of Kentucky, where he earned both his bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees. He has lived and worked in Lexington ever since.
Kris has devoted his entire legal career to representing plaintiffs in medical negligence and other personal injury cases. In January 2004, he became a founding member in the firm Savage, Elliott, Houlihan, Moore, Mullins & Erdmann. He remained a partner with the Savage Elliott Houlihan firm until he joined Morgan & Morgan in 2013, where he led Morgan & Morgan’s medical malpractice department for 10 years. Kris’ practice continues to focus on medical negligence and other personal injury cases.
Kris has served as a board member of the Fayette County Bar Foundation since its inception. The Fayette County Bar Foundation is the charitable giving arm of the Fayette County Bar Association. Its mission is to raise and distribute charitable funds for law-related projects and education in Fayette County, Kentucky.
Kris has received Martindale-Hubbell’s “AV” rating, which recognizes lawyers with high ethical standards and professional ability, and according to Martindale-Hubbell, serves as a testament to the fact that Kris’ peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
Kris has two children, Cooper and Presley.
Sarah Eaton
Sarah Eaton was born and raised on the east coast. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD in 2011 and then later attended the University of Richmond where she received a Certificate of Paralegal Studies in 2015. Sarah moved to Louisville in 2016 to work as a litigation paralegal with attorneys Ty Smith and Kris Mullins at Morgan & Morgan.
Sarah joined Smith Mullins Injury Law in June 2023. She brings ten years of experience in the legal industry with a focus on plaintiffs’ medical malpractice cases. At Smith Mullins, Sarah manages personal injury cases from the presuit stage all the way through litigation to settlement or trial. She is experienced in all phases of litigation including investigation, discovery, medical summaries, and trial preparation. Her attention to detail and file management skills make her a great addition to the Smith Mullins team.
